If you don't want to go to a lot of trouble, you can put a big throw over the sofa, and tuck it into the sides to create some shape (hope that makes sense). Or you can paint the sofa too.
Try painting it with chalk paint. It really does work!
Tx for your suggestion which I thought off too but being a phobia of germs (or unseen crawlies to naked eyes), I have stop thinking about this make-over on the sofa!. I might want to 'totally wash it inside out"! which will be cheaper to buy a new one.. Tx lot
Get an interesting print or plaid fabric, and make tubes of fabric slipcovers for the seats alone. Fit the ends together to fit to each cushion with Velcro.
Get a sturdy cotton for summer and plan a heavier fabric for winter.
Get a sophisticated plaid with some of the wine color of your other sofa.
Washable covers.
There are lots of gorgeous, sophisticated ragg rugs out there at places like Ollie’s and odd lots. You’ll obviously have to find them wide enough to cover your cushion, but could look great. I’d use zip ties on the underside of the cushion to connect these, but for fabric covers you could use Velcro instead of a zipper.
