It’s also called a five finger ivy you can get a broad leaf killer, it’s a spray that you spray on the leaves in the sunlight, or dig it out but it’s very persistent.
Be a lovely colour in the Autumn though!
Virginia Creeper. But I don't consider it a weed. It is a beautiful vine that turns bright red in autumn.
This vine is "Virginia Creeper" It is invasive and hard to control. It is everywhere in the Eastern U.S. I just keep pulling it out when it gets about a foot long, otherwise it keeps growing. I have seen it engulf 30 ft trees.
Yes, it is Virginia Creeper. I read an article once that said to get rid of vines, clip the end just a bit and immediately place it in a container of vegetation killer. Supposedly, the vine will "drink" the stuff and kill itself down to the roots.
Virginia creeper
Virginia creeper is a common woodland plant that is frequently mistaken for poison ivy. It has five feather-shaped leaves and isn’t poisonous. However, if you’re in an area where Virginia creeper grows, there’s a good chance poison ivy is nearby!
In Alabama can’t get it under control creeps up my house highly allergic to most things when I work by it I get rashes is it poison?
Virginia creeper is like a sister plant to poison ivy. They are very often found together.
If it clings with tiny "suckers" it's in the family of Engleman Ivy. If it needs to be tied to a support or will "wind" around a support, it's Virginia Creeper. They look very similar and both cover arbors and trellis' beautifully. The red color in the fall is gorgeous.
It is not poisonous, but it can get carried away with itself. However, the little birds crack the seedpods and eat the seeds. They are very amusing to watch. The plant is beautiful growing up a tree. It's one of those things that you have to put up with the nuisance or kill it. I put up with it. grace in Virginia - where the creeper grows.
Virginia creeper and it will take down and will take over anything once established it is hard to get rid of good luck!
Round-Up - desperate times call for desperate measures.
