What stones should I use for my backyard sanctuary?

I have a large backyard with one area where grass does not grow well (shaded area). I’m looking for ideas on what stones or other materials I may be able to use to fill that space and create a Small sanctuary for reading and relaxing.

Your local stoneyard will have vast supply of stone in different colors textures and shapes. I suggest having a visit there and see what you like. Often they have terrific catalogs for ideas on how to install stone and pavers products with different design options.

Also I’m not sure of your location but Ive found that sedum is a great plant that adapts to areas where nothing will grow. If adaptable to your planting zone - you might want to consider adding some sedum to your backyard area

I have a similar situation, but rather than all stone I have "encouraged" moss to grow.
