Well, you can make concrete pavers..I used a pop flat....the box under the pop cans. Lined it with a black plastic bag, mixed a small batch of quick create, poured it into the lined box. You have to leave it alone to dry completely, but you can scratch in a few of your favorite quotes, sayings While it’s still wet. There are colorants also availabile.
Could use Hogging or secondhand Slabs or membrane/Newspaper and then Shingle
I boughr patio blocks from Menards whrn they were on sale and bought bulk 1/2 stone as base. 7 - 5 gallon buckets for $1.80. Scalp off grass wider than blocks
Smooth ground and level. Put base of stone down. Use stomper is available.
Also use a level for both ways, put stone on both sides of the walk.
Pea gravel or mulch with pavers inbetween.
stepoing stones
Look for sites or in the newspaper that have construction material. Sometimes they need to just get rid of it. Especially the city block pavers. I have seen free-you take all, or $1 ea. even if you can't get enough for the whole path. Make them your border. Be sure to bind them together. It's cool to color concrete. Then whatever you put in your path, pea stones, etc. isn't going anywhere. It will stay in the path as long as you don't fill to top of brick pavers. Good Luck!
P.S. Very important to level the path!
