Curtain, window film, blinds?
We live in AZ....and our house faces east/west... we put Shade Screens on all of the windows... it keeps the sun off of the glass.. and helps with the resulting heat penetration... it also give a certain amount of light control.
How about an awning (either fabric or metal) on the outside, to block the direct sunlight, but still be able to let in fresh air?
Hi Mary,
If you just want to block the sun but have light come into the room, I agree with Naomi. Get some UV rays blocking window film. Try Lowes, Home Depot or Menards. If you still can't find it, try Amazon. We have it our home and it works very well. Wishing you the best.
We had the dark screens put on the outside of the west windows, and thick blinds on the inside. We had to cut down the shade tree from there, so the screens and blinds really helped cool the house on blazing hot days. ☺️
Darkening room curtains usually have a backing that can help block the sun and heat.
If you choose to not go with an awning or window film, maybe sheer curtain(s) would give a enough coverage to provide air flow and block the hot AZ sun.
use privacy film
