I like a mahogany type color of stain. But you really have to go with what makes you happy. Look at your fabric and where you're going to put the chair and what is around it, then pick a color that coordinates or compliments.
Of course the choice is yours, you asked for input so here it is. In my eyes wood is naturally beautiful and I love to see the grain enhanced by stain.
The kind of wood in your project is assumed to be either pine, oak, or cherry...the pine usually and typically has a yellowish tint to it, the oak is one of my favorites and a mellow tone is characteristic, the cherry implies a darker stain and does not show the grain as much as the other 2. Not sure of the color or pattern your fabric or what your decor is. Good luck with your project.
Fabric gives you a lot of options. Pick the color that fits your decor and go with it.
You asked for opinions... here is mine...
If you stain.... choose a different fabric... the one you have would not enhance the piece... especially if the stain is espresso or cherry... and a pecan or oak stain would clash with the fabric.... as there is no yellow tone in the fabric.
if you paint... the red, turquoise or white would look best with the fabric you have.... black paint would work but make the piece too dark....
a more graphic black and white print fabric would be better with the chair/table painted black and the tan color would do nothing for either.
