i've always been partial to wind chimes.
different pebbles different sizes make a pattern and inside pattern like a zen almost pick your area also. take plastic plant simple planters and just here and there put flashy plants in it. if you do not want to use pebbles, use different sizes of wood but first treat the wood. stack it up in a arty pattern and follow up same with plants pick the plants carefully start in one corner one large and like in middle one medium to the end a couple of small ones succulents for example.
Use container plantings' outdoor bright carpet under your patio set, place solar lights around, garden decor, wind chimes, gazing ball.
There are a number of ways to decorate, but I'll give you 2: funky up-scale funk. What's the difference? Well, funky includes all your great finds in bright colorful colors. Up-scale funk still includes all your finds, but the colors coordinate and more subdued and your outdoor fabrics are usually either very light or all very dark.
And the list goes on, but I hope I've given you some inexpensive ideas.

Visit the thrift store and garage sales. Use paint to brighten things up. I picked up a garden bench very cheaply because a dog had chewed on the arm. I planed the arm smooth and painted it, including getting creative with coloring in an emblem on the back.
The most beautiful way to decorate a patio is with pots. Use resin pots which are not so heavy...or whatever size and color pot you can find at garage sales/thrift store. Every pot can be different.
To keep from losing space on the patio, buy some 12"x12" square concrete paver stones to set them on (1.58 at Home depot). Dig out the grass and level these. You can group these together at each corner away from the house.
Shepherd's polls are pretty too and can be swung out of the way. You can hang a pretty hanging pot, a bird house or wind chime on it. They come in different heights too. (Notice in the photo below, I had a tomato planter hung on a pole!)
I spray painted my pots for color!
Right now I seem to be in a wooden chair mood or mode. Maybe because I can easily find them for free. Have 5 on my front porch now, decorated with pillows I either made or got here and there. Have 3 more to decide what to do with. I like the idea of painting them individual colors.
Not a patio but the screened in porch as I decorated it initially. I made the quilt, I painted and reupholstered the rocker, I quilted the little cover for the stand. My sister gave me the wicker settee and I made a cover for it quilting the fabric and sewing covered buttons on it. Oh, and my husband made the sculpture. We also painted the ceiling, wall and floor. And made the lattice. You kinda do what you can with what you have and what you know how to do. But I would say this all was done for under $100 I think we also used directors chairs here. Those we bought new.
