Is it a peony? Ants will eat the covering over the blossoms.
I would spray it with a garden spray with either mint or lemongrass essential oil in the water.... it kills them.
Spread a line of sugar around the plant and keep it refreshed as necessary.
Check for aphids. Ants farm aphids. You can spray water on the plant to knock off the aphids.

Spray with a mix of 40 parts water to one part dish liquid, leave on for ten minutes and then hose off.
