We had skunks one year... We found out they were after the grubs living in the dirt under the lawn. So to get rid of the skunks we needed to get rid of their source of food, and treat the lawn for grubs. Viola! No more skunks, and the grass was greener, (grubs eat the roots of the grass) and... less beetles, like june bugs, because that's what grubs turn into!
