Only use large items to arrange there. or Artificial Plants. Sculpture etc.
In my opinion, the half wall is less important than the room with the hanging lamp. My eyes bounced around between the small objects because there is no focal point, no one object to look at first or a place for the eyes to rest. I would try adding a large painting on the far wall, behind the lamp and then decided if you need anything on top of the half wall.
Maybe a very tall plant on the floor by the left corner in front of the wall.
Depending on your decor theme, I would hang some stained glass artwork in the space. Staggered small pieces or a large rectangular piece. It will add interest, color and definition without 'using' the divider wall itself.

We have a pony wall like yours and found that by hanging an eye catching statement piece high on the landing wall, we didn't need anything on the ledge. If you do put something on the ledge, make sure you put non-skid material under it...a couple door slams can make it move and fall.
