Can you use a blind that hangs from your awning?
Not knowing the height of your windows or the angle of your house I would make a guess that an awning in the appropriate position could help. There are window films that block the amount of light and heat that transfers thru your window. There are plenty of what I will call "relatively" inexpensive films that are usually applied to commercial buildings. These run about $4-5 per sq. foot installed but can block up to 75%. The really nice option is very pricey. There are two films on the market (one is a company v-kool and the other is a Deutch manufacturer I'd have to find) make films that block 50-70% of the infrared radiation with much less tinting. These run about $15/foot installed.
My aunt used pvc pipe to make a frame which anchors into cement filled galvn planters. She assembles it and then hangs muslin curtains from the pvc frame. This gives her a portable outdoor screen. When the weather is bad, she can quickly bring in the curtain and leave the frame outside
no unfortunately a blind won't work. It's just how the angle is. I really don't want to have it professionally installed because it would cost way too much.
Thank you anyway for your suggestion!!
Shade sails are wonderful.
Surprisingly, they're not that unattractive at all. My daughter has two on their elongated deck and they really look nice.
