Use Sharpies.
You might consider using nail polish and dip it for marble effect? You could just dip one side. If you would like to try it, it is VERY easy and takes only a minute to do. You can get special porcelain pens on Amazon that work really well. The mug needs to be baked in the oven to set the ink.
