MAYBE a " salt scrub"? Salt for the abrasive texture and vinegar for the liquid? Can't remember.... make a paste like toothpaste consistency and scrub. Trying to polish up Brass, copper, and silver plate can be frustrating. Try to determine if it is SOLID copper before you scrub really hard. Brass sometimes has a coating of some sort of lacquer, and silver plating is easily scrubbed off! Your teapot may have a tin lining, which is probably best using a brillo pad. I tried all sorts of versions of different concoctions and I bought copper (specific) cleaner at the hardware store!
Hi Naomi - I clean my copper with the cheapest brand ketchup I can find. Coat it, let it sit for a couple hours and then wash in warm soapy (dish soap ) water and DRY very well. It will sparkle!
I'm sorry! Darla I meant!
Ketchup
Anything with a tomato base. Or a cut up Lemon.
Catsup and salt works on mine
Ketchup works great! Then just rinse it off. It's like magic.
Bar Keeper's Friend is a great cleaner for copper bottom pans. You can find it at Walmart or Target in the household cleaner aisle.
