I need ideas for making a (10' x 10' x 4' - 4 1/2') fenced in area for
I want to get ideas on a way to make a nice inexpensive fenced in area for my 3 chihuahuas to be able to be outside safely and enjoy the sunny days. I've thought of a chain link kennel, a picket fence, but so far can't decide what or how to make it look nice, be cost effective, and safe ( there are eagles that have settled in my area and they are capable of picking them up for a meal), so I will need to have a cover over the top, to keep predators from getting inside. I also would like to be able to easily move it, for storing it in winter. I also would like any ideas on inexpensive materials to use to cover the ground ( such as patio pavers - but they can add $$ up fast. Any input would be appreciated ?? Thanks

You need a portable dog pen. Let me see what I can come up with. You want to give them something softer, like cool grass to lay on rather than pavers. I get the eagle thing, in my area we have hawks - known for absconding small cats and dogs. Let me see what I can come up with.
Here are some ready to purchase models that you could modify to suit your needs.

For the above, I would use a screen type material as if using chicken wire the Eagles may not see it until too late and get tangled in it. Not good.

The above are diy options that will also require modification. See what you think?
I like this one from Chewy.com. it says you could make a rectangle, octagon, etc. So I thought you could use two for the roof. It's collapsible and has anchors to keep it sturdy. It also has a 99% customer rating. Can't beat that! From personal experience, their customer service is terrific. Naomi is right, fresh grass and little bugs to chase are a chuhuahua's heaven, as long as you don't have a digger.
P.S. I have 2 chihuahuas and a 40 lb. Lab. They get along great!
For really small dogs... I would recommend a covered dog run... we have known people who have had hawks or owls take their small dogs if the area is not covered... the cost for a chain link one is about $200 ( I have seen them at Lowe's or Tractor Supply for that amount.
Not pushing, but their customer service is great! Try it if you don't like it return it. No hassle. They sent me a slightly torn bag of cat litter, I called so they sent me two at no charge, next day delivery. (Yes I have a cat, too. 12 pounds of long ginger fur and inch long claws to keep the dogs minding him. The relatives are taking bets on whether I'll turn into a recluse and support us by weaving blankets out of fur. Anyone know how to run a spinning wheel or a loom?)
There are octogon fencing panels (typically used to corral toddlers) that you can use for a small dog). You can fold it, and store it when not needed, as well as take it with you on an outing as needed).
An early picture of Brother Carlos, maybe a year old. He's bigger and darker orange. The picture doesn't show his double coat well but I'll bet I could brush a pound of fur off him now.
How did the friend separate the white from the dark fur? That must have taken forever. What a great friend!
My grandmother had a horsehair sofa. So, it's a long tradition. Thanks for sharing!
