It's very important to have proper drainage - a hole or two in the bottom of the pot. Mint enjoys sun, but not too much. Also even if it looks like it's dead it often comes back to life. Water when the soil feels dry, this will depend on your climate.
You are correct at growing Mint in a pot...very invasive yet aesthetically beautiful plants that smell great. I bought my mint plants locally. Chocolate Mint, Spearmint, and 2 others...Sage has grown well with it n gives it a softer texture. If u hv misquito issues...put on the patio. Miquitos don't like Mint.
continued...My plants are altogether in a really large ceramic container outside with afternoon sun from noon until sunset...Northeast, USA
Mint can also get tall and leggy. Pinch or snip the top 2 to 4 leaves off the small plants.. As it sprouts new growth do the same with the new growth. This will help make it more bushy.
