What affects a strawberry harvest?
This season my strawberries are mostly small, hard and tend to get dark and fall off the plant. The ones that are ripening, have a hard area of seeds on the tip. There has been plenty of rain this spring, so they are getting enough water. Is it a blight of some kind?

It sounds from your description like a nutrient deficiency. Strawberries tend to be heavy feeders and need lots of compost and other nutrients to grow well. Add as much organic compost as you have, or if you don't have compost, a fertilizer with a higher middle (phosphorous) number for flower and fruit growth.
