Hi Ma Rie, I used a hammer and a few pry bars to get the nails out. The ory bars and cats paw with thr hammer work quite well.

thanks, but vimarhonor and johnavlannce's solutions are not working. the nail heads are too deep to clutch with a claw and the nails are threaded (and maybe even glued ??) . I'll look into anne cherkas's idea : dremmel tool.

Your best bet is a good old fashioned hammer.
