Ask the electric company? Tell them what for.
Hi Brian, does it have to be a heavy wood? Can it be made with 1/4 inch laminate with perhaps a 2 inch sheet of styrofoam or other light material? It is also inexpensive. The thin laminate might be donated by a home improvement store since it will be for a parade in your area. They are usually pretty good about donating pieces they have cut and cannot sell for such community projects. I would call and talk to a manager. Good luck on your float!
Sorry about that. How about going to a junk store looking for round tops of tables. Might get a discount if you tell them what for. Ask participating ones to ask parents and friends for battered tables or anything round. Some cakes are square layers.
