I have a 5yr old Jack Russell Terrier who I don't know if it's just natural or a bad habbit no matter what i plant he pee's on everything especially if there is a new Item placed in the garden he pee's my plants sometimes to death.

I can't decorate like we use to when he was a puppy or even before we got him now we are limited to decorations above in the air or for xmass inflatables that need a thorough washing and disinfectant because of the strong smell.

We live in miami, i would love to make a million of the ideas I see here on Hometalk but only keep dreaming. cant put down mulch because he digs since he is a hunter, and can't decorate with pebbles because he loves round things he has lots of toys plays with them a lot but finds interesting the new stuff in the garden. anyone have doggie friendly garden ideas since my garden is a drab out of fear he will ruin my investment.

Have you considered taking your dog for a walk and then he can express himself on other inanimate objects: light poles, curbs, etc.

Hi, we walk him but we have lots of dog lovers that walk pass our house and let their pooches pee by the several sections of the fence and Max our jack russell loves to inspect every inch and live slicking the pee and marking.

i understand its doggie language for "hi I am stich I just walked by see you tomorrow"

I would hate to get enemies by calling the owners attention to what is dog nature and as far as curb his attention to other things we have a very large front and back yard which he has access to and jack russell's are very smart but sadly he is my girlfriend's dog and she loves him to death which in turn makes him spoildoggie brat and I guess I will

just start maybe making my creations out of concrete which will take all he can dish out until he see's my slippers swish past his head.

Can't make a Jack Russell Terrier do anything, he's marking his turf. You could try spraying the area with a strong essential oil like citrus with a bit of caynne pepper in water in a garden sprayer (shake good before spraying) so he doesn't sniff the area which should keep him from marking.

Has he been neutered? that would help some.

Spray your area with a combination of eucalytus, clove, mint, lavendar, and orange essential oils, mixed and stored in a GLASS spray bottle or a yard sprayer (if it's plastic, wash it out thoroughly). Dogs generally avoid these smells.

Here in miami that won't last and I would have to keep up with weather, supply and lots of other stuff. So best solution is to look for DIY whimsical concrete decore that will take what "MAX" can dish out.

thanks for your time and advise.

My girlfriend would kill me if "Max" got some sinus problems. Jack russell's sniff out AND HUNT LITTLE GARDEN LIZARDS, BEES, JAPANESE BEETLES, if it crawls, flies, rolls, or moves he is there to test and hunt them.

I think whimsical concrete DIY garden decor will be my best bet. Thanks for your time and advise.

I told my girlfriend to call Cesar Milan the dog whisperer and I always hunt for his shows on TV and deliberately

leave it on with high volume so she understands that "max" is very rude and need training. We have several other issues going on when inside the house that I don't want to vent out yet. I think whimsical DIY concrete garden decor ideas will be my best bet.

I agree with Sharon on her suggestion. I had really good luck with painting hot sauce on an antique table leg that a puppy insisted on trying to chew all the time. I never had a problem again with him trying to chew on any wood at all. It may work, just make sure you keep it renewed for a while so that he is reminded not to pee or harm your plants or anything else he likes to pick on.

Miami, lots of rain sorry for repeating myself so much but I think concrete garden decor would last longer and keep up with "max" and his doggie world. and it will help me pickup my creativity and work out the excess stress. Concrete city here we come!

Thanks for your time and advise.
