square cement patio blocks
how about this. Get some of those heavy rubber mats like thee ones for horses. These are at Tractor supply, sell for about $20 or so and are large enough to set the cans on. We have a pergola of a decent size and placed similar rubber squares on the cement 2 years ago. these continue to give us great wear and no maintenance problems.
Hello Ellen,
If you have more time than money, you could rake up all the mixed rocks . Get rid of all the growth you don't want, and re-lay. Have fun!
You could try a natural weed killer that is inexpensive to make in the interim until you decide on more permanent solution :)
I looked and found this recipe

We took a couple of wood pallets and painted them white. .keeps the cans cleaner and off the ground .we get our wood pellets on pallets so we can switch pallets every so often . I don't like mud on my cans .Good luck. .
I piece of landscape fabric, a piece of wood for edging and fill with gravel.
I wood planked mine, but it does not snow here. I would use the 12" or larger cement stepping stones.
As much as I appreciate the fact that you are putting effort into making the place look a bit more decent it seems that you would need more than that! Have you given a thought to a big bin that could replace all the smaller ones and at the same time all the mess they create on a regular basis? I have brought a huge bin with https://www.186needabin.com/service-areas/bin-rental-toronto/ right out of my backyard, and it's been a great relief since they pick it up whenever you need and bring it back as well nice and clean.
