Painting the front door of my home.

I am planning to paint the front door of my home. My question is, do I paint just the outside surface, or do I also paint the narrow part of the door that is in the door jam when the door is closed. I’m not sure how else to explain this. Thanks.

If it has a deal I wouldn't paint the thin part but would paint the thin edge right next to seal if this makes sense lol

paint as you desire! Discover whether door is wood, fiberglass, or metal before painting. It impacts your procedure & products you’ll use.

My husband just did this. We have a door on our second floor that leads to a porch. The door had its original 1905 finish and was crazed. I wanted it sanded and painted a beautiful color on the exterior. He did this but did not include the door edging, nor of course the inside of the door. But I don't think it would have been wrong to do the edge. He just did not do it.
