What’s the best way to wash down a brick backsplash around a cooktop

I’m beginning to see a slight buildup of grease residue along the edges of the bricks on my brick backsplash around my cooktop. What’s the best way to scrub it down with? I was thinking a scrub brush and tsp. Any suggestions ?

You can buy commercial cleaners or use sugar soap, but just a few ingredients you probably have at home will work too. Vinegar and water, with a few drops of dish washing liquid is our go-to natural cleaner. Mix a 50/50 solution of vinegar and warm water and a few drops of washing liquid in a spray bottle. Spray on the bricks and let sit for a few minutes and then Scrub with a bristle brush
For an electric stove, it’s okay to just spray the backsplash with your usual cleaner and use a scrubbing sponge to clean it. With a gas stove it’s easier and safer to spray the cleaner on the sponge, then clean up the backsplash. Mr. Clean, Clorox and other brands all have degreasers, or make your own with water, vinegar, and a squirt of Dawn. And you are being proactive, Pat, in keeping the grease and grime from building up so badly that you would have to use a heavy scrubber on your backsplash. Thanks for the question! ☺️
