The trim is wood, which could be easily removed, but would rather clean it up because it still has to be removed from the brick. Any suggestions?

Get a 7 way tool and scrape what will come off then chip the rest out carefully with the aid of a hammer.

A good sturdy utility blade can be run along both edges of the caulking. Then slip the tip underneath it and it should pull out almost in one piece. You will probably need to do this every couple of feet, but keeping the caulking in tact as much as possible will make the job faster, easier and cleaner removal.

3M makes a caulk remover. It does not leave a stain on the brick. $7.00 at WalMart.
