Where do I go?

I live in an apartment, so no sanding, sawing, or hammering. Can't seem to find any rental space to do woodwork. Everyone I know lives in an apartment so can't use a friend's home. Any thoughts?

Hi Ana, you could consider a storage shed. Some offer electricity etc.

  • What about an adult education class? Community College? Trade school? Sometimes if you show up and develop a rapport with the instructor, you might be able to make private arrangements for a small fee? How about contacting a local independent cabinet maker, furniture doctor or similar trades person that you might be able to sublet a corner of space from? That is a tough one! There must be a co op out there, but finding it is another story! I am not a social media user, but if you are, maybe someone on Facebook might know? If you are on Nextdoor.com, that may be another place to put a shout out.

  • maybe rent a storage unit, although not sure what kind of electrical or restrictions there may be?

Some communities have buildings converted to artists lofts. You would need to check your area and what the rent would be. You be able to share a spot with other artists to have low rental fees.

You should be able to do it outside in the alley of empty space. Just cover the ground with a tarp.
