How do I refinish old metal folding chairs?
I was given 6 old metal folding chairs. They are all rusty and discolored, some have plastic seats. How do I refinish them the right way?
Hi Judy! How do you want to redo it? Is it an upholstered chair or is it a wooden chair for a kitchen or dining room? Or is it possibly a patio chair? Are you wanting to paint it, reupholster or update it in some way? If you can include a picture of it, we'll maybe be able to provide some great ideas! Anxious to help, but not sure what you're wanting to do and what you're starting with. Thanks!
Refinish the wood or reupholster the seat?
Judy, there are so many types of chairs. But I stand by the method: Sand, Stain/paint, and seal. Even if the chair has upholstered parts, you sand and clean the whole surface, paint with a satin or semigloss paint, and seal with oil-based polyurethane. If it is all wood, you can stain it to coordinate with the room, or paint in bright colors. This would be a good project for Unicorn SPiT. Be sure to post on Hometalk! ☺️
