Help with foundation planting
We bought a cape that had terrible plantings in the beds in front of the house. We removed everything and now have a blank canvas to start fresh but we have no idea where to start. We’d like to start with evergreen type bushes that will look good all year through! We get lots of sun all afternoon.

Hi Susan, sounds like you have a wonderful bed for perennials too! You can mulch around everything after planting so your beds will also be really low maintenance and those perennials will come back for your every year.
Could you possible send us a picture of the area? When hubby and I removed the horrible shrubs that were in front of our house, we included a seating area that was done with pavers. Just enough for a love seat, end tables and a couple of big planters that have elephant ears and coleus.
I agree with the ever greens and prickly stuff under the windows. I grew up on the wrong side of town. not to many wanna be thieves wanted to tangle with them.
I will post a pic shortly thank you so much!!!
So below is a pic. We currently have weed proof material down in each of the three beds with a brownish pea stone on top. As you can see there is a fence in front so whatever we plant I’d like it to be seen but not dwarf the house. Hoping to get a new roof soon and paint shutters front door etc... it needs some TLC.
