If you were looking to purchase this home and stumbled upon the fireplace, would you be turned on or off?

The fireplace is a wood burning one and in good condition overall but I hate hate hate the mantel. I worry that if I pull it off there will be "nothing" behind it. ... See more
I like the colors in the bricks but I'm not quite sure about the fireplace, is it marble or stone?
It wouldn't be deal breaker but a negotiator on the price. If I wanted a fireplace and the price was very negotiable I would buy. Strange layout, not happy with it being in a weird corner. But has possibilities. If the house had other amenities I was looking for and the price was right and negotiable I could tear out the fireplace. I wouldn't let a weird fireplace sway my decision to buy if that is the house of my dreams.
The stacked stone is too busy for my taste, and the color too dark. I see an opportunity. I would do a light gray wash on the stone on the wall and a slightly darker gray wash on the stone fireplace surround. IMHO.
Thanks for the feedback. The wall surround is stacked stone. The mantle is cast stone.
I like the stacked stone, but the fireplace surround is too white. I would pick one of the colors in the stone and give it a wash.
Do y’all think I should white wash the stacked stone to blend in with the mantle, OR darken the white mantle to blend in with the stack stone?
I would move the TV! I like the fireplace.
