How do I update my countertops on a budget?
I have 80’s formica countertops and cabinets. I want to add more counter space and then finish them all on a budget. What is the best way to accomplish this?

Do you want to go with new Formica? Laying it isn't bad at all.
No, I want a granite look that withstands heat and staining.
I have heard of people painting the Formica. Check with home centers for kits. You could also rip out all countertops and re-install with new at the addition and use same new laminate in whole kitchen, but that is a lot of work.
I used a product called quikcrete to get a concrete look. Love how the turned out. Inexpensive and easy. You can see it here: https://www.hometalk.com/diy/kitchen-dining/kitchen-dining-furniture/changing-up-an-orange-formica-countertop-with-concrete-18147786
