Please send this to your County Extension service. There are all sorts of new invasive species that are destroying our gardens and trees that they are trying to track.

Hi, looks like a stink bug. Such named because if you squish it, well you get the picture. Will damage fruit. Lives a couple of months. Common household bug sprays work on them. Good luck.

hi Paula, I live in Pennsylvania too. So I have found your bug. It is harmful to plants. Of course I had to google it. Here is the official name. chinavia hilaris. Google away and enjoy learning all about this guy. He does leave a bad odor on your skin though.

it does eat plants ie. Fruits and veggies
They are prehistoric looking for sure with their back that looks like a shield of armor. They are stink bugs. They do let out a scent similar to cilantro (and not in a good way) when threatened or squished. They ruin autumn for me as they hangout on all the window screens and they want to move in with you for the winter months. They freak me out when they fly too.
Definitely a stink bug; my parents deal with them in Virginia as well.
