Do you want stained or painted cabinets? How big is the kitchen? Natural light? Task lighting good?
Black appliances are a huge trend right now. A safe option would be to do them in a pale grey to tone in with the black appliances. Or maybe white with a black trim, although white cabinets always tend to show more dirt. If you prefer a bright and happy color scheme then you can go for teal like this one here - http://cdn.home-designing.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/awesome-black-white-kitchen.jpg or even this one http://xiaoer.me/io/1260066273/teal-kitchen-cabinets/foxy-teal-kitchen-cabinets-with-dark-teal-kitchen-full-size-of-small-trade-kitchen-black-kitchen.
You could paint them a white or cream color and then sand back some areas for a distressed look.
suggestions are all great.
