If that picture is your basement, I would recommend a drop ceiling so you can get to all those pipes, ducting, wiring, drain lines etc. If you have a leak or have to add/remove/modify you can easily remove tiles and replace them. P.S. Buy 1extra carton because they change the patterns!
I agree with the drop ceiling. You need to have access to all the mechanicals in the ceiling. You don't want to tear a ceiling down in the future. A 6" drop is all you need.

I wouldn't put a ceiling in at all. I would paint it all ( and i mean everything in the ceiling) black using a paint sprayer.
I read about a person spray painting their basement ceiling and it went through the floor boards and ruined the carpet upstairs. The floor joints are not sealed!!
