How do I repair "blushing" on an antique exterior door that accumulated snow on the surface due to storm door being broke. Not sure if it's lacquer finish or varnish, but first have to get the "white clouding" off. HELP

    Hello Mabel,

Blushing probably due to damp ingress through the surface. Let it thoroughly dry out before you consider doing anything. In the meantime fix your Storm door. When Door is completely dry and if mark is still visible, I'm afraid you will have to sand and strip the surface and re-seal.

Well, this happened in March, and I've let it dry for 5 months...with no improvements. So, I was wondering if Vaseline would work? Have you heard of that solution? If I get brave I may try it. Just don't want to take the door off..it has a 4' oval beveled glass in it and don't want to risk breaking it. Thanks for your help and I'll let you know.

Mabel, use masking tape on the glass, hardware and any other parts you don’t want to sant, stain, paint, or seal. At this point, That’s what you will have to do for your door. Also examine and fix if needed the very bottom of the door, the threshold, any kickolate, and the frame of both the main door and the storm door. You want to be ready for the next round of storms, snow, ice or hail. But you can do it, piece by piece, step by step! ☺️
