How to do a Barn door?
I’d like to change my master bathroom door which swings into our tiny bathroom, to a more contemporary style “barn door” that splits in the middle since I don’t have enough room on either side to slide a single 32” panel.
Couple of questions: has anyone used a split style door? Do you leave the original door frame molding on or remove them andcrefinish the opening?
Thanks Sylvia

Sylvia very detailed video where you can see exactly what is happening. Good luck with the barn door project! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiwlabhqYeM
I built a set of true barn doors (on a new barn), and they were a split set design. They’re still hanging proud, and they work great. Also, I definitely think you need to redo the opening.
Thank you both.
Keep in mind that there can be no light switches, hvac vents and some electric sockets on the wall where you want to hang the door.
