I'm not sure how wide that opening is, Lynda, but you could build a frame for a double door, or add french doors and put curtains on them for privacy.
You could install folding doors.
Here's some ideas I personally like, hope it helps !
I would continue leaning on your beautiful trim theme that you have in these pictures.
A painted set of wooden double doors with nice trim tying them into your existing doorway, would be great. You could opt for glass doors that are frosted or maybe curtained, it depends on how long it will remain a bedroom.
If you decide later to return the room to a bedroom, the doors will still be appropriate and add to your houses appeal.
Have fun!
Sorry , meant to say ...if you decide to return the room back into a livingroom....
Personally, I would go with a barn door (or double barn door, depending on the size of the opening), if you have the room for it along the wall. They are very popular right now, and would go nicely with your country decor. Also, these can be left open, as just a decoration, if you no longer want that room "closed off."
Just remember for resale value a room termed "bedroom" in a listing must have 2 exits (yours seems to fit the code if you place doors over openings and those windows are inside it).
Also most people expect a closet in a bedroom but I've used an armoire outfitted with hanging rods to substitute.
Yes. In Texas a room listed as "bedroom" must have 2 exits (I.e. - windows and door). Otherwise it has to be designated as something else like a media room.
Barn doors would be cute
