I too live in the country, and I take a hatchet and chop the vines down at ground level. Most of the ones I did never came back. Since you are allergic you’ll probably need to wear gloves, safety glasses, and a long sleeved shirt. Don’t forget to wash the hatchet blade when you’re done.
Everyone is allergic to poison ivy. It could send me to the hospital. Still I suit up and unwind it and cut it down to ground level, then drown in vinegar. They sell chemicals to kill it to the roots, but we have kids and pets so we go the natural route. Bag up debris separately and tag as a courtesy to the trash haulers so they do not get infected. Shower immediately and wash clothes with lots of vinegar. Wash your shoes too so you do not inadvertently spread it further. Spread by wind, wildlife and people. To get rid of it completely, you would have to concrete over your property. Not gonna happen. You can fix this! Just be careful. 🌞
