Redoing an old table
i would like to redo this old table, not sure the type of wood that is needed or how to start working on it. I believe it's laminate on top that is peeling? Thanks for any help!

Is there a picture anywhere? There are lots of things that can be done to repair a piece of furniture. There isn’t enough information in your question to give you a decent reply. If there is a picture somewhere that would help a lot.
If there is peeling laminate, peel it off and re-laminate.
A picture of your table is really required here! But in general if your top veneer is lifting it can be reglued using a small syringe to get glue between the layers and then placing a board on it before clamping to ensure it thoroughly compresses down (ensuring no glue is on top of the veneer of course).
Please provide a photo so more detail on refinishing can be provided.
