Dance floors are traditionally made of wood. Make a fram the size you want with 2 x 4s and every 16 inches a cross 2 x 4. Once the frame is done you can lay down 1/2 inch masonite. Then paint and seal as you like or tile it.
There are plans online and YouTube has great tutorials. If you will use it again look for one that can be stored or repurposed.
Attention to detail and the sturdy ness will make or break your event.
Some people are very funny about what is under foot when they dance. Forget any vinyl product. The best is sanded hard wood parkees 8 inch by 8 inch You can glue them to 1/2 inch flake board. 4 sheets of 4x8 foot boards being tongue and groove. Them have a local cabinet maker cut hard wood bevel strips to fit the radius.. Now depending if you want to pull it up or not you might want to secure these strips to the floor counter sinking with wood screws.
The best floor is bare hard wood, tongue oil deeply. Absorb any excess with a lint free cloth. you may find this new floor is to sticky. Shake oak meal over the floor not a lot keep the last two steps going until its perfect. keep the oatmeal around for those humid nights.
This is dedicated to Bob Linhart the polka king of Cleveland and my deceased Father
You can rent dance floors from places that rent party supplies--like party tents, chairs and tables, etc. Probably cheaper than trying to build one.
