If you are talking about an old pedal sewing machine you can do it with a little work. You can remove the metal legs and use a wire brush to remove any rust, then clean and paint with a metal spray paint. As for the wooden section you can strip, clean, stain and poly. I wasn't able to salvage the wooden section of my old machine so I made a new top. Hi. Yes to what GK said. My sister has our mom's, to make it usable she added a beautiful piece of wood, now it's in the dining room holding dishes etc and a great conversation piece.
Do you want to keep it as a sewing machine and just refinish the surface, or do you want to 'repurpose' it into something else?!
