What is the best rock to use in a sitting garden area?

My sitting area was grated using a tractor blade. As soon as it rains there is going to be mud everywhere. I don’t care for pea gravel. What should I use to make it pretty and functional with out mud coming through?

12 by 12 pavers and there not exspensive
I would say pavers too but you could also use stepping stones or wooden squares.
5/8 minus crushed Gravel. Not the best looking but, no or less Mud if the layer of gravel is 1.1/2 inch thick. Tr. good luck !
You could get a load of 1/2 inch limestone and it looks nice
We just purchased river rock from the local landscaping place.
Its pretty and has character.
