Hi Lena. Rubbing alcohol works for me. I have used finger nail polish remover. .you can try both. .Good luck .
I keep a medicine bottle filled with a paste of oil and baking soda underneath the sink for this very purpose. Soak the label submersed in water for a few minutes. Peel off what you can with your fingers. Rub the gummy residue left on the bottle with the oil and baking soda mixture with your fingers. Works on all glues. Just mix baking soda with what ever cooking oil you have to make a paste.
I peel off what I can and then smear it with coconut oil and let it sit while I do other things. Then I sprinkle baking soda on top and scrub it with my fingers or a green scrubby. If there's residue left, I wash it off with dish soap or vinegar.
I usually soak them in hot water first and peel off what I can. Then I spray on Goo Gone and let it sit for about 10-15 min. Then I can usually scrap off the rest with the edge of a strong plastic spoon.
With plastic labels I fill the jar with boiling water and after a few minutes, lift a corner with a knife, the label then peels off easily. Residue glue comes off easily with wire wool or sticky stuff remover (orange oil based).
Spray some fabic softener with water on the label. Wait a couple minutes and it will come right off.
I soak it in hot soapy water (with Dawn dish soap) and it usually comes off after about half an hour. If that doesn't work, rubbing alcohol will taking it off.
Try WD-40
