Get a double bulb fixture for the hallway, and paint it off white, as well as getting some lighter flooring.
I can't tell what color your walls are, but I would go very light in whatever color you like and using a semi-gloss paint will help to reflect light that comes in from other rooms. You could do a cool wall display of different mirror to reflect light as well. If you have a one bulb fixture on the ceiling change it to a fixture with more bulbs. The carpet looks pretty dark and could be sucking up whatever light the hallway does get. A light colored runner over the carpet would help that. I hope these tips help.
What is your lighting situation? I would paint a light color. Add lighting if you can and decorate with mirrors to bounce what light there is around the space.
Hi there
Here are a few points that could be considered:
The flooring should be done in the lightest color possible.
The walls should also be painted light color or white.
Any wooden finishes whould be painted light color or white.
Adding mirrors in strategic places will give the illusion of bigger and brighter.
Lighting in the ceiling should be spacde maximum 1m apart to give a flow of light from start to finish.
Hope this is of some help, and
Good luck
Paint your walls white or a light color, get a runner that is a lighter color to go over what you've got there. I see an electrical outlet but no ceiling light - get a wall sconce that up high on that wall, then put a mirror across from it to reflect the light. I think that might do!
One idea would be after painting, putting a runner rug would be to put one of those plug in night lights that comes on when people are in the hall. It looks like a suspended ceiling. A led fluorescent light replacement in the center panel will light the hallway like day.
Thanks to the homeowner who asked the question and all the wonderful answers that will also help me in my hallway.
