If the stain is black, it may be more difficult than most stains to remove; however, it's not impossible. Sometimes, trying different methods can remove the stain over time.
Once the spot is clean, use white vinegar to wipe it down and then put baking soda on top for a day. Repeat the process a few times to see if it works.
You can also sand the area, find a matching stain, re-stain, and seal the floor. This is an option if the stain penetrated all the way through.
Another option would be to hire a professional cleaning service to get it out. Most of the time, they charge less if they are unsuccessful in removing the stain.
Hydrogen peroxide can lighten dark stains on wood. Soak a rag in hydrogen peroxide and lay it over the spot. Try to just get it on the spot and not on the undamaged floor. Let the peroxide soak into the wood, remove the rag and wipe up any peroxide that's left over. Repeat if necessary.
