Which plants do slugs not bother with?
Hey there,
I know that lavender, sauge and verveine are not very "loved " by slugs. Do you know other plants like that? I live in the south of France. That means, hot and dry in summer, in winter a lot of rain, temperature normally not less than -4 C°. Very poor soil (sticky when it rains, hard like concrete when it is dry and a lot of stones)
In the area where I have my new built house there are a lot of those little white slugs sitting with thousends on everything.
I don't have the money to replace the soil with something better. I just covered every inch of my garden with a felt-like anti-weed tissue and that keeps a lot of the slugs out of my "little" garden. On top of those covers I will put some gravel but I also want some plants in the ground...not only in pots.
Thanks already

Hi there,
I know some other slug - unfriendly plants are :
Rosemary, Ferns, Hydrangeas, Geraniums and Heucheras! I've also heard that slugs won't eat the blue type of hosta. Sorry I can't think of the proper name but I know it's a blueish tone. I'll add more if I can think of any. Hope this helps a little. :)

To rid your plants of slugs: save jar lids or cut down plastic containers. Fill with beer or wine and disperse throughout the garden. The slugs will drink the sweet drink and drown. Make sure they are no higher than 1 inch tall.
Try using egg shells around your garden and the bottom of your plants! Just save all your eggshells and crunch them up (not too teeny tiny but fairly small) and spread them around your garden and the base of each plant. Slugs don't like crawling over them as they're sharp for them so they avoid anywhere with eggshells
