We collect pallets for free, they come in hard wood as well as pine etc and come up to 8 feet long. Even the nails can be salvaged for use. With a little building skill, the free wood could save you much and then all you need is the money for a tin roof and maybe get a used window or two. So for the cost of paint and a few used windows you could have a nice porch starter.
