How can I use tires as a walkway?

I have a large backyard and would like to create a walking path in a u-shaped pattern. I don't have a budget for brick or stone but thought about cutting old tires down into strips and blocks and using them as pavers. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Tires will be really hot on bare feet! I know from walking on asphalt! I got all of our rock free. I looked every day in Facebook marketplace for free rock! The curved idea is great. Put an ad in the swaps for free rock donations.

Hi there Sivan7. I'm Cindy. Tires would work for a boarder for your walkway. You could cut them in half and either turn them over and put plants in both ends, OR Put them face down to make a boarder. The tires could be painted too. For the path itself, you could make blocks with cement. Cement is inexpensive and you could personalize them with whatever you have on hand. Follow directions on the bag to mix cement. You could pick up cake pans or cookie sheets at Good Will or second-hand store very cheap. Lay some colored rocks, marbles or any personal items in the pan first. Then pour concrete over them. Allow them to dry and then take them out of pan. These concrete forms would make a great path way. And the tires could boarder them. Very cute.

Shingles make a good walkway too. Often they are offered for free as left overs from roofing jobs. Weeds & grass don't grow thru them quickly like they do rocks unless you put down some kind of weed block.

While shingles are not cool to bare feet in heat, they are pretty durable & don't require much maintainance. If you get different colors from free or recycling, you can have fun with geometric designs & colors in laying them. We use them on wood porches & steps to help prevent slips from muddy feet. Use the tires as suggested already for the pathway border.
