You can decorate a tree with fall colors including flowers, ribbons, pine cones and anything else that you love from fall. Here are some ideas.

You can add a garland of fall leaves or maybe some thick ribbon around the tree to bring in those vibrant fall colors. You can also get decorative pumpkins, scarecrows, ears of corn, etc to add to the tree to make it more fall like!
You could attach faux fall leaves to it, and maybe use a fall-colored scarf as a tree skirt!
I think the key to making it look 'fall like' is to downplay, or disguise the green branches. Here are some ideas:
