Try mopping it with warm water and baking soda. Be sure not to make the mop too wet and dry up as much water as you can. After dry, go over it with a dry dusting mop to help bring back the shine..
Mop with warm water and vinegar.
Was the floor waxed or used Mop & Shine of it? if so you will need to use an ammonia cleaner to remove the wax. I usually use a lemon sudsy ammonia mixed in water, squeeze the mop out well. If you've got a big build up, you may have to go over it a couple of times to remove the wax.
Once the wax is gone, use a better product like Bona for hardwoods.
HI Joyce,
The best way to clean an engineered floor is to sweep all of the dust and dirt away, that use a damp micro fiber mop with warm water and a little Murphy's Oil Soap. Do not use a wet mop, just a damp one. Don't use any wax or polishes as that will eventually make it worse. Our engineered floor isn't shiny either, but it also wasn't shiny when it was installed. It just has a slight glow when it's clean. Like Joy said, you can take the time to polish a clean floor if you want. I personally would use a microfiber cloth/mop. Doing that might bring more of a glow, but if your floor wasn't shiny when it was installed, using products to make it shine will only make it necessary for you to eventually have to remove polish build-up and that's not an easy job. Wishing you the best. -Linda
I do wood floors with warm water, vinegar and a drop or two of Dawn then we dance on towels to buff them up. It’s good for a cardio workout
Bona for laminate floors.
Don't add a shiny top coat without consulting the manufacturer.
Don't know if I can mention brand names, but here goes. I used to use Bona, but it left them dull. Switched to Laminator Plus - used deep scrub product then finished with their other products. CLEAN & SHINY! p.s., although great for other cleaning, don't use vinegar - the acid will eventually etch the surface.
Here is a link from a flooring company that has some really good info on caring for your floors. They recommend not regular Bona, but Bona Professional and tell you where to find it.
