How do you paint slate flooring?
Small foyer about 5' x 5' has red slate. How can I paint it? What do I use?

Hi Priscilla. Use a stone sealer remover. Acetone will do the trick. Stone yards also often carry stone products. Work in small sections. When done, use a stone stain, then reseal. Happy DIY'ing!
Consider that real slate is expensive, porous and worth the time to do it right. Concrete/stone stains only go darker. They are not white wash, nor will slate deal well with white wash paint (not stain) in such a high traffic area.
BIJ has good advice. Take the time to clean, prep, clean prep & rinse rinse rinse. Real slate is an asset.
I wish you won't. It's a very desired product and expensive. Once you do it you can't go back.
