How do I safely remove old tile?
I am hoping to remove old tile, covering up terrazzo. Is there a safe way to do it, or just pop each tile up and hope for the best? (Grout release, or will I be grinding and chipping away?)

I think the best way would be to get a chisel and hammer and a boat load of patience. Here's an article I found. There are also a videos on YouTube.

You will find that there is no chance of "popping" up tiles if they were installed properly. You could use a masonry blade in a circular saw to cut each grout line. You can try to get under the tile to pry it up. However, I would bet that the terrazzo will be ruined. You may have to go down to the subfloor and start over. Maybe you will get lucky. Be sure to wear eye, nose, and hearing protection when you are doing the work.
Tile is on top of terrazzo? Oh man.
Try a little of everything and take your time. I’ve not found a grout release product. The tile may come off but the mortar or mastic is going to be touchy.
If they used a mastic adhesive, then maybe paint stripper when you get down to that level. Hazmat suit time, lol.
