What's the best way to change a doorway ?
Our basement door was an outside entrance. We added a room and now I would like to redo it so it fits in better with the interior.

Is the basement door now inside your new room? You can change out the door by putting in a new interior door and adding trim to match your new interior trim.
Beth Ann, I'm guessing that you still want the protection of the exterior door? Is it possible to make a screen, or faux wall so your interior won't be seen from outside? If not, you'd be surprised what paint, or wallpaper would do. If you have a window you could use a roman shade there. Just color coordinate the colors and even put some wall decor next to it and it could look lovely. Good luck.
Beth Ann, You can buy a whole new door with framing and then buy the molding! Interior doors are very reasonable. You can spend a lot but you don't have to. I took my door off completely going down into the basement. The molding and trim is still there. I filled in the places where the hinges were with wood putty, sanded and painted. My basement is finished so it looks OK!
